  • New Guinea, Papuasia, Asia Tropical
...a highly variable species found growing in the lower montane forest of New Guinea (450-3100m). The flowers can vary from entirely dark purple, to a yellowish white with dark purple veins, to this light yellow with faint purple veins. This plant, like many others from this section, is free flowering throughout the year with highly reflective flowers that appear to be glittering to the naked eye. The flowers also dwarf the pseudobulb and leaves in comparative size and last 5-6 days. Plant habit is so similar to B. tentaculiferum that it is very easy to mistake the two; but many of you will see the similarities in the flowers of B. triaristella, which is in the same section.
