A beautiful example of an art-shade, harlequin moth-orchid - developed in all its complex sophistication by Taiwanese hybridisers since the 1980s. The term 'art shades' is applied in the orchid industry to the flower colour spectrum from red through orange to yellow, typically a blend of plum, peach and golden apricot if one reaches for a nectarine analogy. The term 'harlequin' is applied in phalaenopsis breeding to a variegated flower pattern in myriad combinations of stripes and spots, from subtle striation to bold blotches! (Emrys Chew)
