occurs in two varietal forms, one darker, the other lighter. See also Arachnis Maggie Oei (hort.)

History Arachnis maingayi is a rare natural hybrid of Arachnis hookeriana and Arachnis flos-aeris, which is why it bears more than a passing resemblance to its man-made counterpart, Arachnis Maggie Oei. Even their names sound alike, although one was named for an English surgeon and the other for an Indonesian Chinese showgirl. [Emrys Chew 2017-04-01]
